Montauk Club Construction, Scaffolding & Weddings

I am starting this blog in hopes of getting in touch with other engaged couples who have booked the Montauk Club in Park Slope, Brooklyn for the 2011 wedding season from May through the end of the year.  Just this week, I visited the venue, which we booked in January, for our September wedding, only to find it covered in unsightly scaffolding.  For us, as for many couples who chose the Montauk Club as their wedding venue, the appeal of it is the building's architecture which has been completely ruined by the construction of which plans were withheld from us upon booking.  Not only is the exterior ruined, but the large windows that surround the club now look onto a construction mess.  Contrary to what management is saying, the permits for construction were applied for in July 2010.  They had complete knowledge of the construction plans at the time we booked our wedding.  My goal is to join forces with other couples to get back our deposits plus the money this is costing us to make last minute changes (ie. re-printing our invites). If you are in the same situation, please email me at akdixon82@gmail.com.
